The 'Talalay' process was developed by the Talalay brothers in competition to the Dunlop scientists. The process was not perfected until the late 1950's and because of the investment required, only three companies set up Talalay plants – all in the early 1960's.
Talalaly Latex can be produced in an almost infinite range of 'feels' simply by changing the product's density. Talalay latex comprises both natural and synthetic latex. The manufacturing process is quite complex, involving several more processes than required to manufacture latex rubber. The process uses both mechanical and thermal technology to produce a uniform open cell foam. Talalay latex is the only latex with an open cell structure, which creates a consistent and high quality latex mattress with outstanding durable and rebound qualities. Furthermore, the uniform open cell structure helps dissipate heat and moisture whilst maintaining load bearing qualities.
