Our exclusive Gel material is made from many hollow columns of soft, very strong, rubbery gel that is dervied from Natural Mineral Oil. Each column is attached to surrounding columns. A column has a unique engineering principle called 'column buckling'.
Under light loads, Sleepmaker Gel column support walls begin to compress slightly just like foam or springs. But as pressure increases under the hips and shoulders the strong, flexible Gel support membranes instantly buckle and fold over to conform to the shape of the body.
When fully loaded, the recessed surfaces, like the back float firmly on the top, while protruding surfaces, like the hips, sink deeply into the mattress. Then when the load is removed, the strong Sleepmaker Gel columns spring back again.
